Some Starlight fans (like some “whatever” fans) became overzealous about it, and everything that dislike or criticize their idol must be deal with overreaction and fire. Such fans are basically like SJWs, but for a pony.

He didn’t drag her out, he just stated somthing, “At least she is not Starlight Glimmer” is nothing more then saying what he thinks of her.  
Now if he started to badmouth Starlight you would have a point, but that little bit he said was not bait.  
You and the BP however calling it bait when he started his opinion is closer to bait, because you had to call him out for it, and doing so is going to stir up trouble far more then what he said.

Did I say that All Sunset Shimmer fans are Starlight Glimmer Haters. No I didn’t. I just mentioned one person, not an entire fanbase. Maybe read carefully next time before taking things personally.

Again with the overused Mary Sue bs that’s only there to make Starlight look bad. The show still acknowledges that she had flaws and goes as far as to develop her character in season 6. She remains in twilights castle a good chunk of the time, and twilight still keeps a close eye on her. Plus there were moments she was frowned on showing she has flaws. Not to mention she hasn’t even returned to the small village she was once a leader of. We know four characters forgave her, but what about the rest? What do they think? And as for Starlight being shoved down people’s throats, She’s a secondary character that played a few minor roles aside from the season opening and finale. The only other time she had a full episode was to develop her friendship with Trixie. The only reason people say the show is forcing people to like her is because they want to find more excuses to hate her. There was an episode where she only showed up for a few seconds and didn’t even speak and people still raged over it. So pretty much most of what you did say was on the biased side.

That Starlight hate is never without fair cause because even after her second chance, she did something as reprehensible as mind control intentionally. Nothing pressing, nothing life threatening.  
Starlight is a Mary Sue that the show tells us to love. At least other characters react appropriately to Discord’s mischief.
