Wouldn’t a centralized economy be even worse? since now the economy, instead of being controlled by a small amount of very wealthy people who are all competing with one another(which ensures they don’t unite), is controlled my a single authority, which would give them complete control over a society’s resources and thus the society itself.  
I’m not saying our current system is good, the fact that essential oils and other pseudoscience-based bullshit is legal to sell and the fact that the mega-rich have so much control is proof of that, but centralizing the economy would just make the problem worse
