Some of my long time watchers - as in those who have been around for 2-3 years at the least, might see this fuzzy lavender fellow as rather familiar and think ‘why is that?’. Well, that’s because you may have seen Silent Star before!
 

 
Initially my take on the possibility of kirins or qilins in the MLP universe, Silent Star was originally a speechless/mute kirin whose talent was nonverbal communication. His cutiemark was both a combination of the parts of his name: A star to represent the star part and three dots or ‘ellipses’ which usually indicate silence or a pause in text. The fact that the MLP canon version of kirin are initially mute/speechless was a funny coincidence with this boy’s aspects, but suiting. This episode has given me an opportunity to redraw Silent Star and work him into my verse.
 
I also have some considerations/concepts regarding canon kirins in my universe. Kirin and unicorn both come from a common ancestor - hence why there are often unicorns with lion-like tails or cloven hooves. I also headcanon that Celestia and Luna’s line has kirin ancestry, attributing to Luna’s transformation into Nightmare Moon from her surges of emotion (Jealousy), the nightmares simply being a variation/manifestion of the Niriks. Daybreaker would also be considered a form of a Nirik, as well as Feral Lotus.
