I know as a biology teacher that this stuff happens when we teach genetics and children notice that their parents both have blue eyes, and they have brown or something.

I never bought it; the only reason anyone ever stuck the two together was because they have similar mane and coat colors. How often does that actually happen with canon kids? Still, unless they lampshade it, it’s not worth arguing about.
