The Unicorn Range is probably the mountain range there, with the mountain Canterlot is on being the ‘horn.’ Though as far as I know, there haven’t been any mention that unicorns can’t grow things, just Earth ponies get an innate magic boost to it. So the other races aren’t necessarily bad at agriculture, just Earth ponies are better at it.

That post was fantastic. I can hear this exchange, down to Lyra smiling during her comment with a matter-of-fact tone, considering the common fanon personalities.

But it makes me wonder about something. The official map of Equestria (>>287103) shows a region called “Unicorn Range” north of Ponyville, west stretching from the base of the mountain (if you can call it that) to which Canterlot is attached. Approximately half of this region is colored in traditional “agricultural swatches” (color blocks to indicate farmlands). Perhaps unicorns aren’t agriculturally inept? Maybe indentured servitude or slavery exist? Perhaps I need more caffeine? Just something that came to mind.

“Four bits? Four bits!? You should be grateful I’m willing to give you two bits for one of these withered wretches! I’ve seen healthier carrots come out of unicorn gardens — no offense, honey.”
“None taken; plants hate us.”
“Five bits for two, and that’s my final offer.”
