Typically when that happens, it’s what the episode revolves around, and the focus is usually corrupted. For instance Fluttershy becomes a bully in The Return of Harmony and Putting Your Hoof Down, but both times she was corrupted and it was the focus. Pinkie Pie behaved opposite in The Return of Harmony and Too Many Pinkie Pies, but again it was the focuses, and in the former case she was corrupted. I find that Rarity behaves contrary most often, this being an example. I like Rarity, she’s cute and enjoyable, but I feel like the writers aren’t 100% confident in her personality.

I would only say that all of the Mane 6 have had moments of weakness where they behaved in a manner contrary to the element (virtue) that they are normally exemplars of.

I mean, I’m not going to go and say Rarity is worst pony, (I don’t think anyone is worst pony, they’re all good in their own ways), but this scene does kind of contradict her whole Element of Generosity thing…
