She’s Marysue-ish, but not obnoxiously so, since she’s a supporting character.

Useless. LoL. If you haven’t noticed. In her 2 apperances Cadence did more then Celestia and luna for 4 seasons.  
In her first appearance, she dispelled brainwashing spell from Shining Armor and next she charged him with power so they could repel entire invasion force.  
Against Sombra, she kept her shield up, she got more tired then Shining Armor was when he cast his barrier, and in the end she captured crystal heart and used it to kill Sombra.  
And now we see her fully action packet.
 
I wish Celestia and Luna would get to be as useful as she is, because so far we only saw them useful in the past, but present, well, they do not really shine.

The circumstances in the book were easily close enough to Twilight’s to be believable, so yeah. Celestia apparently likes to hand out promotions to ponies who can keep the peace.

People are actually calling her a Mary Sue? What? She’s the most useless alicorn in the series. I feel that if they ever reveal how she became one, it’ll have been by accident or something. She isn’t good at magic or flying or anything.
 
When you start calling any old alicorn a Mary Sue, just because they’re an alicorn, you show just how little idea you have on what you’re talking about.

They’re not canon in the strictest sense, but they are official, and that’s the only backstory for Cadence we have. Until we get anything better, I’ll continue treating it as her “real” history.
