Well they’ve been striving for their elements for too damn long. There needs to be an episode where the Mane 6 actually represent their respective elements for once (But then again, that would be easier said than done seeing as they got rid of the Elements of Harmony in S4).

Her “opposite of kindness” could be considered more akin to, eh, fear and/or being unable to stand out, therein being unable to demonstrate kindness to those who do not notice. She is mean on occasion, though, but, yeah, not as frequently as the other mane characters are the oppositions of their own Eyes of Heaven. :3

The Elements really do make more sense not as what the characters actually represent so much as what they constantly strive for, the ideal they want to represent even if they’re not always the best at it.

Because the elements are based on want they’re not.
 
Friendship - Asocial bookworm that only started thinking about others as friends after a life-or-death strugle. 
Laughter - Brutally suppressing chronic depression by distracting herself with event managment. 
Kindness - Cruel streak a mile wide if social anxiety is removed. 
Honesty - Despite being really bad at lying. Actually resorts to deception quite regularly, but admittedly probably closer to her element than most. 
Generosity - Social climber perfectly willing to take advantage of a child’s infatuation for borderline slave labour. 
Loyalty - Narcissist concerned first and foremost with her own reputation.
 
The above traits are generally only brought out when the character in question needs to have some kind of internal dilemma (except the Spike thing, that’s just for laughs) but they are there.
