I’ve love to see the idea that Twilight’s parents are secretly awesome get written/drawn. They’re Canterlot ponies whose daughter has been Tia’s personal student since fillyhood. They’re potentially VIPs before all this, and Twilight’s connection to the throne might have put them in the line of fire of dangerous political intrigue.
 
Also, when you have power like Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor in siblings, there’s a good chance it’s genetic, meaning maybe Twilight Velvet and Night Light are packing some serious magic power in those horns.
