I imagined that the pony way of life is so magically intertwined that a sense of destiny is in it.
But earning a Cutie Mark is about self-discovery and realizing who you are. A lot of people have gotten hooked on the idea that a Cutie Mark is about your special talent (though often a big part), but the CMC journey was about how it wasn’t that at all.
Though we do know name/identity changes happen, often at marriage, so it’s entirely plausible some may change their name at the Cutesinera.
the only head canon i feel strongly on for mlp is that once you get your cutie mark you can, but don’t have to. I could also see that the cutesinera early on was mostly meant to let people know about name changes.
I feel this mostly because otherwise too many names are too perfect for their cutie mark.
Celestia sending two tickets in Ticket Master was a subtle hint to tell Twiggles to go get laid.
Chrysalis is only competent when competent minions are acting under her (e.g. Cozy or Pharynx).
Life on the Pie family rock farm was (and to a lesser extent is) terrible, and it took two sisters running away and the other two becoming overstressed wrecks for them to realise that.
Sunset Shimmer’s original plan was just to ransom the Element of Magic or claim it for herself; the whole “Take over Equestria with an army of demon teenagers” was the high on crazy talking.
