Well, internet polls aren’t always accurate. (Depending on how many vote, and where the polls can be found.) Though, despite Rartiy & Applejack being the least-popular main characters they still do have alot of fans regardless.
I doubt they’ll drop any character from the show really. Worst we’ll see is less merch’ of them.
@Beau Skunky
It’s kinda odd, since Rarity is consistently the most popular pony among female fans in any internet poll I’ve come across, but it’s clear that she, Fluttershy, and (especially) Applejack are the low sellers of the toy line. While I’m sure Meghan McCarthy and the DHX staff would never do such a thing, at times I suspect that Hasbro* has asked them to drop Applejack from her role as a main character.

@Clover Patch
She could certainly use the exposure. Sadly, she and Applejack are the least popular characters of the “Mane 6.” (Though, they still have many fans. Though, I’m not sure how they do with the target audience.)
@SquiggyBomb
I am always kind of surprised when Rarity gets the short end of the stick when it comes to toys. She’s a glamourous, magical, white unicorn with purple hair that wears eyeshadow and has gemstones printed on her butt. She’s the group fashionista. She’s a perfect candidate for girly pretty-pretty toys.
@DoomPony
The only times the mane’s shape comes into play is when they’re doing molded manes (blindbags, Funko) or the plushie equivalent (4de); otherwise, in terms of brushables, if anything Rainbow Dash is slightly more complicated and expensive because it involves multiple colors.
I thought that was the best part of the EQD post. That, and all the commenters tempting fate by saying things like “touches hooves”.
Because i fap on tomboy taming…
Rarity is badass.

I dunno. I think she adores having her hooves painted.
I like this theory. (Besides, she’s not against wearing dresses, and such in the show.)
Someone needs to draw a picture of Rarity reacting to that comment.
Rarity’s mane is also a massive pain. Everyone else is far easier to manufacture (and play with, I assume).
Because Rarity doesn’t sell as well as Rainbow Dash, and Hasbro* doesn’t give a flying fickle finger of fate about characterization.

Darling, I think that hairstyle looks gorgeous on you.
Hey, the truth hurts.
Why else would they have a toy like this geared for her advertised with another pony?
Sure. Why not?
Take that, bokukko / least feminine Pony!
Nooo. Don’t say that. If she heard you, she’ll cry her eyes out.
