Actually, the Ishimura has a lot of gas mask that are like the ones we have today, you find a lot of dead miners/engineers wearing gas masks, they make sense because they’re cheaper and do the job. In chapter 3, you come across an engineer Slasher playing dead below a sign that says “MASKS ON!”, and it has an image of a gas mask like the ones in those images I put in my first comment. No, Ben Wanat told me that they were removed because all Slashers in Dead Space 1 have a grab attack where they try to bite you, and the gas mask was covering the mouth.

I think it was removed because in there world they have more advanced things than gas masks. And if they did have them wouldn’t they look similar to all the helmets we’ve seen, with blue glowing lines and all that.

One thing I’d like to see them do is add the gas mask Slashers that were removed from the final version of the first game. This Slasher was removed for no good reason.

I would still love a good remake of the first one, it came out in 2008, that’s 11 years (damn I’m getting flipping old).
 
Just imagine what it could look and feel like with todays technology. Also getting it to work on newer OSs can be a pain.

Dead Space was such a great game. 2 was pretty good too, if a bit heavier on the action than it needed to be. But it was still a horror game as well. 3 ruined it.
 
Good games. Shame EA ran them into the ground like they do to everything else.
