Duck - I love arguing so much I don't know when to stop!
Lunar Supporter - Helped forge New Lunar Republic's freedom in the face of the Solar Empire's oppressive tyrannical regime (April Fools 2023).

This is what I like about Superman. He’s supposed to be a paragon of virtue.

Now if only the dumb writers could keep Sup’s power level consistent.

I was honestly amazed no one had made it yet. I was gonna make it a bit longer, with names changed to suitable ponies, but who the hell would substitute for the doctor? Any suggestions?

Superman’s fights may result in some collateral damage, but he’ll avoid it however he can. In Man of Steel, he directly caused most of it.
My point with the Ma Kent thing is that the narrative seems to be communicating that Superman is only obligated to stand up for those close to him. That’s why it makes him seem selfish. After all, in Batman v Superman, he rescued Lois Lane, but not Jimmy Olsen.
It’s all very complicated, but it seems to Zack Snyder thinks a hero like Superman has the right to use his powers at his own discretion. There’s nothing wrong with that moral, but Superman has never stood for that.

Uh didn’t superman in the comics and shows almost always fight in Metropolis? From what I remember like 80% of his fights were in the city itself and usually would collapse several buildings how was this fight with Zod any different?

I don’t get this part you mentioned so was he supposed to let him kill his mother because she isn’t the entire human race? Zod wanted Super Man to come with him so he could kill him he was defending himself besides Zod tried to destroy the planet with that gravity machine which killed thousands of people so even if Superman Man had let Zod kill him as like a sacrifice so that everyone else would be spared Zod still planned to kill them all anyway.

Gladly.
When Superman fights Zod, rather than attempt to take the fight somewhere where people wouldn’t get hurt, he chose to fight Zod in both Smallville and Metropolis, causing immeasurable loss in both property damage and human life.
As for selfish, what motivated Superman to fight Zod wasn’t that Zod was threatening the entire human race, but that he threatened his mother.

I also liked Man of Steel. I could see the problems it had but it was still enjoyable to me.

At least it was better than Batman Vs Superman, ech.

True. Unfortunately, that convinced DC and Warner Bros. that every comic book movie had to be dark and gritty, whether it fit the source material or not, even though Marvel was already proving that that wasn’t the case.

Well, before Batman begins, a lot of Superheros movies were doing pretty bad and were mostly lighthearted dumb family stuff, so when they made a superhero movie that was dark and gritty, it got popular for standing out form the rest.

Actually the suit is more based on NCMares Supermare design along with a little of the new 52 and MOS.

You’re definitely right about the grit and angst. I also think (and I know you’ve heard this before) that Superman came across as irresponsible and selfish, which would be fine in another movie, like Lobo or something, but not a Superman movie.

Ironically, it looks like he’s wearing the outfit from that movie.

To be honest, I didn’t hate that movie like most everybody online. I actually enjoyed it, and I actually liked it’s version of General Zod over the old one. The old Zod was just an emotionless sociopath with no reason to do bad things. (Just for the evelz) The new one actually had a reason to be an A-hole, and actually had a plan of his own.

My only critique is, it was kinda too gritty/angsty at times, and lacked some of the humor Superman is known for. (but he does make a few funny quips in the movie.) I think people disliked it, was because it was kinda a typical “darker comic book movie reboot/orgin story” movie. Still, in that regards, I liked it better then the gritty Fantastic Four reboot.

I think “Batman Begins” was the only one that really pulled off the “darker edgier orgin story reboot” perfectly. (Though, it kinda took half the movie for him to become Batman.)
