I doubt self-defense devices work quite like uppity Pokemon. And crap weather seems liable to compromise attempted macings unless you’re belowdeck, so that seems to be a wash.

So basically, he’s expendable to everyone… That said, taking a bullet to the skull and surviving MIGHT have gotten Rainbow Dash to reconsider her opinion of him. After all, when you’ve got limited hands on a ship, it’s best to take random creatures that fall from the sky and see if they can be trained as a deckhand, before throwing them overboard.

I’ve been reading this comic since I spotted it (the page where Rarity flips the boat over got posted when I was browsing and it piqued my interest).
