It’s amazing how much of the danger of magical artifacts comes from simply not knowing how to use them (or use them correctly). You’d think at least one ancient keeper would have thought to include a manual.

Twilight Sparkle: We’ve got the Elements, and we’ve all put them on. Now… does anything happen?
DM: Um… Nothing “happens.”
Twilight Sparkle: No glowing lights, no purifying rainbow beams?
DM: If that’s what you expected… no.
Twilight Sparkle: So we’ve still got the liar, the killjoy, the hoarder, and the grump?
Rainbow Dash: She’s not so grump…
Spike: Maybe they don’t work automatically? Maybe you need some kind of trigger or spell.
Twilight Sparkle: It’s how they worked last time! They just appeared and did their thing! And since when are you an expert on Elements?
Spike: I’ve picked up a thing or two from being your familiar.
