Pretty much what I figuref when I watched the episode. Rarity, she came on very strong and very obvious.
I still like the explanation that Rarity just set off his ‘golddigger alert’ and he acted accordingly.
Edit: …Ah, someone already said something similar.

Could also be explained away ars nerves in that case.
That’s a pretty good explination for his behavior too.
That’s understandable. My headcanon is that this was his first time being at a social event of this scale(mostly he just prefers to keep to himself) and that he treated Rarity like he did because he honestly didn’t know better.

Same.
I like that headcanon too.
But him learning the error of his ways sounds like it could be good potentional for drama.
Or comedy.

I still prefer the “Actually good guy” Blueblood who is just dodging all the gold-diggers with the attitude. I mean, Rarity did come across as a gold digger from what I’ve read. Or at least someone who was looking for him to live up to an ideal that had nothing to do with who he actually is.
Most of those try to get around that by having them engage in drunk sex the night of the Gala, but even in those it ends up making little sense since the way the episode plays out they’d have little to no time for that.
Oh they’ve done it with Rarity too. You’d think she wouldn’t date him after what happened but nope, she jumps right into having babies with him. It’s super out of character.
I meant besides Lop’s Blueblood. Though I do recall at least one fanfic about him and Rarity having a bastard kid, because of course.

Yeah, I’m kind of annoyed at seeing this. This isn’t the second time I’ve seen it. It’s a very common thing to do with Blueblood in these offspring AU things. Him being a abusive/neglectful jerk with illegitmate foals just seems to be the norm in the fandom.
I get he was a jerk in his episode so him being a jerk in fanmade stuff isn’t too out of the question but it’s a shame that he’s been pidgenholed into this role. I’m not saying they should play him as a complete angel, but some variety in the jerkish behavior or have the prince even learn from his selfish ways would be nice is all I’m saying.
Or all of the above, plus he actually wants children but then sends them away when they do pop up. That’s Lop’s Blueblood.
Either that or the emotionally (and/or physically) abusive husband with several mistresses.
Only the second?
