Here’s a question, all of her sisters are in the gray variety. So now I’m curious to know as this goes on with time, what was the original colors of Limestone, Marble, and Maud? Maybe those three have gotten so complacent with their circumstances in foalhood that they just stayed that way throughout their lives and being able to convey emotions despite their color never returning. Maud being the duller variation of gray out of the four and just as stoic as the rocks she studied.
 
It could also be a thing that ties into Pinkie’s desire to leave the rock farm, she was born not wanting to live a complacent life as a rock farmer, instead wanting to spread happiness and cheer. But we’ve also seen that Pinkamena is the side of her that she rarely shows, the one that displays SEVERE DEPRESSION (possibly a reason why some of the writers didn’t want to bring her back up because of how real of an issue that is to some people). Her losing color could be her way of reverting back to where she could’ve been had she never left the rock farm. This is her without the party, the cupcakes, the makeup, the mask she made into her very being.
 
And that it, we forget so often after the very few times you get to see the cracks. We see the persona that’s often making us forget that THIS EXISTS. And it begs the question, just how many people do we see or interact with that does this everyday, hiding their emotions or feels rejected when they’re told we shouldn’t do what makes us happy. Of course, that spawns another deep subject, but that’ll be for later.

I kind of like the fact her color scheme got more and more washed out as the episode went one after this point.
