I think it may have had to do with it being 65 episodes, back then shows had a 65 episode package; I’m guessing the writers just didn’t want to continue it. They should have.

Honestly, I was surprised to learn this, because I had been led to believe that the only villains that the G1 ponies had outright killed were Tirek and Lavan, but I guess not. Any others that I’m not aware of that were outright killed?
