If I ever make that carving I’ll upload it here and to my deviantART.

I am currently two weeks into a brand-new job that I love, which involves woodworking as one of the things we do, so that was another big inspiration for wanting to carve a pony.

Funny you mention Kachina dolls. Even though we don’t know exactly what tribe me and my mom are from, the geneology person she spoke to seemed to think it was Hopi or Pueblo, again probably from somewhere in Colorado (I actually looked it up, there don’t seem to be a whole lot of Hopi in Colorado, so I am not so sure.) I am eager to find out sometime.

But maybe I could look up what they made Kachina hair our of and use that for my pony’s mane. But I’d probably just keep it simple and make her mane and tail out of Sculpey and glue and paint them back on after baking. But making a Northwestern wooden pony doll is actually kinda relevant, since DHX is in Vancouver, which is about as Pacific Northwest as you can get.

They can do tests to find out, or ways to trace back your ancestry. Cherokee seems pretty common. (Due to them marrying into other races.) My ex-girlfriend was part Blackfoot tripe though.

That actually sounds cool, you should try it. :)

Kachina dolls also look cool. I like Native American culture. I’ve even been to an actual Pow-Wow before.

Oh cool. I actually discovered very recently that I have a small amount of Native American heritage too, we just don’t know what tribe yet (we think it’s from somewhere in Colorado, but still not quite sure.)

Yeah, totem poles do look pretty cool. Funny thing is, I found this pic after thinking of a silly idea for an art project, which is carving a wooden pony in a style reminiscent of both the show, and traditional Northwestern Indian art. I dunno where that idea came from, but I may try that sometime.

Also, very few Native American indian tribes lived in “tipis,” most of ‘em built tents, huts, or other things to live in.

I’m part chereokee, (you’d be surprised how many people are) and while I don’t mind the media stereotypes, you’d be surprised how inaccurate alot of ‘em are.

I do think totem poles do look cool. So I’m not badmouthing the pic or anything.
