Celestia is a sun goddess, you’d expect her to be tan while Luna, being the nocturnal princess she is, would definitely be pale in comparison. In the show, Celestia is a white with a lavender outline and a aurora borealis tail and mane to represent light and the sun while Luna is dark blue (she is not black) with a mane and tail resembling the night sky. The reason she didn’t have those in the first season is because she had a lot of catching up to do as an alicorn. Which makes me wonder what Cadence’s mane and tail will look like when her alicorn capabilities truly awaken.
Ignoring the implications from the above comments…
I can see the logic in dark-skinned Celestia and light-skinned Luna. I just figured reverse since I think Luna is one of the very few dark colored ponies in the show.
Celestia avoids same face / same color, so it’s all good either way.
@BattleGT
gasp. what if someone makes a racial comment and prejudice is magic screencaps this comment section? what ever shall we do? how will the fandom ever recover? Oh no.
Anyway, I don’t see Celestia as being Indian, and I doubt I’m alone. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m sure there’s very few people in the world who would see Celestia and think “Hmm…I bet if she were human, she’d be Indian!” The more likely cause of this humanization was “What if Celestia were Indian?” It’s an interesting artistic exercise, but it doesn’t translate into a very plausible humanization.
The character on the right doesn’t even bear any semblence to Celestia.
No Blackie, but at the same it’s just that same type of comment, that got PB alot of unnecessary attnetion from tumblr which resulted in a whole bunch of bull.
It’s just the way you worded that sentence that can be construed in the wrong way.
“Hi there, I’m Princess Celestia. I represent the sun’s light, I’m voiced by a white woman and my fur is the purest white. Did I mention I’m secretly a black woman?”
Makes sense that the sun princess would be dark. Fur color in this show doesn’t mean shit in terms of skin color.
How about you use actual logic and stop saying stupid shit?
Pretty sure Luna is one of those dog ponies here or something stupif

And I mixed English with Spanish, forgot to add the last word in the sentence.
It’s just the way you worded that sentence that can be construed in the wrong way.
I really don’t care much about skin color.
Seriously, this. What is wrong, this humanization is awesome!
I also like when people keep Spike a dragon when everyone else is humanized. Makes Twilight’s cutie mark story make sense.
(Lol, you thought I was a racist? Sad)
Lol, funny to hear that coming from someone with a name like yours.
I can see a tanned Celestia.
But black?
