Trust me i know. I’m still angry on how they screwed Gargoyles over so damn many times, to the point where they wouldn’t even let the creator go on with the comic. Speaking of milking franchises, remember High School Musical and Hannah Montana? Disney doesn’t seem to. They milked ‘em dry for five years and then locked ‘em in the vault. I liked the first Cars but even I admit Disney has been milking those movies like hell, even ignoring John Lasseter’s (the guy who created the Cars/Planes universe) objections and putting those Planes’ spinoff movies into theaters.
Frozen seems to be going the way of the Lion King; very polarizing, loved by many and hated by some, and I hear Disney is trying to make a Lion King show for their toddler lineup. If Frozen does get a sequel I hope Disney doesn’t rush it.
As for Star Wars they seem to be trying to appease the OT fanboys like RedLetterMedia and Simon Pegg, forgetting that they are a vocal minority at best and a bunch of spoiled man children at worst, hoping to squeeze money out of nostalgia for the Original Trilogy.
My biggest proof of this is when the two Clone Wars events at Celebration Anaheim gained a lot of attention Disney was put off by it, wondering why people cared about a canceled show from the prequel era. Which makes throw my hands up in annoyance and makes me wonder if they even remember Kim Possible or Gargoyles at all or even notice the love those shows still get.
Disney’s rep isn’t that great either. They’re known to be very strict with their IP’s and they also like to take the helm for a lot of their operations. They’re brutally strict with their employees (that’s understandable). They’ll replace VA’s if they get too old. They milk franchises for everything they’re worth and then some (IE: Frozen, Star Wars, etc). They have a monopoly over the animated movie industry. Their theme parks are big yet unconventionally hard to traverse through without an express pass. They seek to by up other IP’s to add to their collection.
If anything, a deal with EA would be a corporate dream for Disney. Not only would they nickel and dime you out of your money on day-one content, they’ll punch the pennies out of you for multiplayer-passes, DLC, and recording rights for anything you’d want to put on YouTube.
The only thing that would be worse would be a merger between Comcast and Time Warner, which thankfully was shut down.
Yeah, but given EA’s less than stellar reputation ya’d think Disney would know to go to someone else.
Money. Nuff said.
I’m still wondering what the hell was going through the Disney executives heads when they handed Star Wars games over to EA of all companies.
How much you want to bet that if those also come with new weapons or gadgets we’ll end up having to play some new game mode we don’t care about or chase people down with repair tools and revive tools to unlock them?
99% chance Space Battles, Clone Wars era stuff will all eventually be DLC.
Don’t forget TF2 and CS:GO.
„No. Our management – during an office party involving large amounts of drugs - came to the conclusion that the fans would love this game even more if we take out all the unique elements and make it more like Call of Duty and Skyrim.”
Wow, I cannot even imagine how angry I’d be. If I try it’s like… utter darkness.
“…maybe, have you preordered the deluxe edition and season pass?”
“If you pre-order this dlc bonus, I’ll tell you.”
“Thought so”
Only if one edits in a trash can with the IPs they are no longer making in the background.
