so like my old ref for the rarijack fam is p old now, and didn’t even include mint - so here’s the new and improved ref!
 

 
Rarity most deefinitely isn’t the type to shy away from any kind of flirting. Mare or stallion, she loves the opportunity to muster up some attention (even if it was for admittedly selfish reasons).  
Despite this however, she never seemed to tie any one down for too long. Sure, she would have her flings, but most of the time the chemistry between them was minimal, and turned out to just be a lot of pretending, enjoying the idea of a relationship than the actual relationship itself.  
There was one stallion, however, that seemed to leave quite a mark. A rugged stallion, an illegal timber wolf hunter, who prided himself on never settling down in one place for too long - so just his luck when this nice fling he was having turns out to be pregnant.  
Of course, he was out of there pretty fast.  
Rarity doesn’t take this very well. Out of luck with love, she flings herself into the only thing she’s really understood - her work. She doesn’t talk to her friends, would definitely not accept any help, and just kept on ticking.  
It’s a good thing that she’s friends with the most stubborn pony in Equestria. Twilight had said that you can’t help someone who won’t accept help, and we should be ready until Rarity is ready to come around to them….. but AJ just thought that was a bunch of horse shit.  
She does what she can to bug Rarity into accepting her help and opening up to her. Think Never Ever Getting Rid of Me from Waitress. that’s my go to Rarijack song agh  
After what seemed like forever of bugging, Rarity lets out in a frustrated puddle of tears that she’s pregnant and the stallion is long gone, and that she doesn’t know what to do or how she’s going to take care of this kid while keeping a business going and keeping herself going and-  
AJ offers to help. Reminds her that everyone is willing to help her. Hell, she’ll raise the kid herself if that good for nothing stallion won’t.  
And that’s exactly what happens, actually. Rarity opens up to their friends, and they help her pull through. AJ brings her all of granny’s smith’s best pies, rubs her hooves, holds her mane back when she pukes, and spends the next nine months doing pretty much everything for her.  
And even when the foal is born - little heart stitcher, a girl - it doesn’t stop there. AJ is determined to be a mom to this little filly and there is nothing that Rarity can say about it… not that she’d stop her at this point, anyway.  
It soon sort of just… made sense, them as a family. It wasn’t really romantic in their heads to begin with, but over time the feelings started to grown, and Rarity began to realise that what she’d needed really was someone dependable.  
By the time Stitcher is 3, they finally make it official and marry. Rarity spends most of her time at her home/between her stores, but always comes home each night to a warm and cosy barn.  
Now, onto the kids:
 
Heart Stitcher - She/Her - Lesbian - va - Lucy Montgomery (x) - Eldest and only daughter of Rarity and Timber Slash
 
Stitcher is very no nonsense, very sarcastic. She will tell you what she’s thinking - even if it’s mean and nasty.  
She grew up without her father, obviously, and doesn’t really care to know him. In fact, as far as she’s concerned, her parents are Rarity and AJ - no one else.  
Like her mother, she’s quite the seamstress. She definitely has quite the different taste in fashion to her mother’s - less of that uptight canterlot snob type wear, and more….uh…..instagram influencer realness? which is just a different breed of uptight snob if you think about it.
 
Butterscotch - She/Her - Bisexual - va - Elizabeth Dampier (x) - Eldest daughter of Rarity and Apple Jack
 
Butterscotch was carried by Rarity, and was the couple’s miracle baby. They were so excited for her to join the family.  
AJ was full of tears the day Butters was born. Even as a newborn, she was born with a set of orange curles - just like her grandma Pear Butter…. Hence, well, the name!  
Stitcher also loved her. She was so excited to be a big sister when Butters was born - and after everything with her dad, she was more than ready to fight for her little sister.  
Butter definitely did not get her mama AJ’s big physique, and definitely not either of her mom’s big personalities, either. She was shy and timid, a bit stressy, and not as good at farm chores as the others.  
It’s why it came as a massive shock to her one day, when AJ plopped the farm hat on her head and told her SHE was going to be the head of the farm in the future. Why on EARTH would she think that she would be right for the head of the farm? Why not Stitcher, or one of the bigger boys - but, AJ was certain in her decision.  
See, Butters had the most brain on her out of all of them. She might not have the physical strength to buck a hundred apple trees, but she definitely could keep things in order… Hence, her role as head matriarch of the farm just made sense.  
So that’s what she becomes, eventually. She keeps stock of all harvests and keeps in charge of the chore rota, all the neccessary admin and decisions needed to keep sweet apple acres running smoothly.  
Her true talent does lie in sweet/candy making (she can make a good apple butterscotch in her free time) - however she’s always been a fan of the analytics and stock keeping of the process, getting the measurements right, temperatures exact, etc. So being in charge of the Apple Farm kinda makes a lot of sense to her.
 
Apple Chip - He/Him - Bisexual - va - Chris Miller (x) no i am not joking - Middle child of Rarity and Apple Jack
 
Chip is the second foal of Rarity and AJ, carried by AJ  
He is definitely…. a dude. a bro.  
He’s not the smartest tool in the box. Him and Cinnamon are the two brawns of the farm, who handle most of the hard labour around the place - but boy do him and Cinnamon get on Butters nerves. They’ve both got such short attention spans and make the stupidest jokes, think 69 haha funny sex joke lol. Butters is this close to being done with them both.  
He is a lady’s man, and a man’s….man. He knows just how to flirt, and the ponies of ponyville lap it up.  
Stitcher despises him for this - she thinks he’s a misogynistic pig - but, well, it’s mostly because she’s angry he keeps stealing her dates lmao.
 
Mint Chiffon - They/Them - Agender/Pansexual - va - Sydney Mikayla (x) - Youngest child of Rarity and Apple Jack
 
The final child, carried by AJ.  
Kindaaaaa the forgotten child of the Apple family  
While their siblings and cousins seem to be getting on with things, either on the farm or off it - Mint is going pretty much no where.  
They spend their time cooped up in their room, in the dark, staring at a computer screen. They are a self described gamer and twitch streamer (whats the pony equivalent to twitch?)  
No they don’t have a job. Stop asking mom.  
AJ is hard on their back to at least get outside and do some chores, but most that she can get them to do is idk, the dishes. They just don’t get them, nobody understands how hard it is to be a gamer.  
Okay but seriously, Mint is definitely not happy, and very lonely. They have no real friends. They latch onto their cousin, Cherry (who only mildly tolerates them).  
They also don’t have a cutie mark, even well into being a young adult. They say they’re fine with it, avoid the question when asked about it, whatever - but really it just adds onto their feelings of loneliness. that they really are that big of a loner/shut in.  
And instead of facing it, they put on a snarky facade, close the curtains and play fortnite until their eyes are bleary.

Anyway, needed to get this out of my system. my drawing time has been spent on commissions and adopts so i was rlly craving some good ol fashioned nextgen rambling. this week has been incredibly tough so it’s nice to have something to focus on
