Question: how long do y’all think it took Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle to go through all those books shown in the episode? Twenty, thirty minutes? An hour? Or, oh, I dunno, maybe this is crazy talk, but maybe it was more like 8 or 12 hours, lasting until well past midnight so that Twilight nodded off from exhaustion, not boredom?

And let me also add that she wasn’t finding anything, so the continuous failure likely made it that much more disheartening, especially once they’d reached the end and it looked to be all for naught.

This wasn’t reading for fun. It was skimming for a very specific thing. Twilight can’t enjoy re-reading her books because she has to quickly go through every book for a mention on Swamp fever. Its just work which eventually wore her down to need sleep.

Could it possibly be that we keep exaggerating how much Twilight likes reading? Fluttershy turned Twilight’s entire library upside down in less than 24 hours. Not even the most fanatical reader would relish the idea of going through all of those books in such a short time.
 
Nice try, OP. Twilight wasn’t bored, and she doesn’t hesitate to help. She got tired and fell asleep on a pile of books, which we’ve seen her do before.
