Background Pony #C846
G3 is great, I grew up with G1, G2, and G3. People are too quick to judge G3 and it’s so wrong.

In G1 the eyes are too small. In G2 the legs are too long. in G3.5 the head is too big. G3 and G4 are fine.

That isn’t the real G3 Fluttershy. She has a whole different color pallet.

It’s funny how each generation had a very distinct style.

G1 was simplified and looked very hand-drawn, G2 went for more realistic horses, G3 went more exaggerated facial expressions while keeping the body in proportion to G1, G3.5 was super deformed, and G4 seems to be going with a more anime-inspired look.

Really quite interesting to see how the show’s animation has evolved over the years.

3.5 is pretty scary. She doesn’t even resemble a pony.

Gen 3 is pushing it, too.

Gen 2 works nicely. It has a balance between realistic and cartoony

Gen 1 is okay, really I have no strong feelings over it. I don’t like the excessively short neck, though.

Gen 4 defaults as my favourite style, but I’m completely biased because it’s the only gen I’ve surrounded myself in. That said, the ponies have necks, and the proportions aren’t frightening like 3.5.

Gen 4 is like a middle ground between Gen 2’s more realistic approach and Gen 3’s attempt at being cartoony.
