So, in this magical world where everyone is perpetually grateful to artists for being so generous as to offer to sell their products to lowly scum such as ourselves, how exactly do you propose the artists go about finding an optimal price for their product?

After all, nobody is ever allowed to say “that’s too expensive”, so they can’t just ask people. Trial and error? Good luck when your market consists of, at most, about 100 people - also the very fact that you’re performing a trial-and-error search to find the optimum price would affect the price that people are willing to pay.

It just so happens that when the internet is saturated with free porn, the optimum price for selling porn is pretty close to zero. It’s simple supply and demand really - rather like trying to sell sand at a beach. Certainly drawing pony porn isn’t a viable business model, not least because of copyright concerns. Honestly they’d be better off giving their art away for free to get publicity, then accepting donations to help fund future porn projects.

oh man I hate how I have to pay for food, video games, electricity, water but you know what? you have to because people work hard to make the products you consume, same goes with art if they wanna make you pay for it, deal with it because they don’t owe you anything

And if the creator isn’t making profit on what they make because people don’t want to pay for it, then said creator may think that making described products isn’t worth the time invested. Resulting in them no longer working on future works that customers may be willing to buy.

A consumer always has the final say in whether they want to purchase something or not. If someone doesn’t want to pay for a book they can wait a few months/years and read it for free at their local library. Would you consider those people “whiny little pissants” too?

It’s worth it to the artist, who created it. I find it amazing how people cry about having to pay for stuff an artist makes. They have to eat too, ya know.

Describing everyone who reads your post as “the cheesy unwashed masses” isn’t going to win you much support.

Why don’t you go back to DeviantArt and hang out with all the other elitist fucks over there?
