Pfft,Celestia is also a decent gal and just look how many people in the fandom treat her.Heck,take any “decent guy/girl”.
 
Flash as a character is way too “perfect”,even more than Cadence and Best Big Brother Friend Forever.What happens is that he gets it worst mainly because of the reason he was created.
 
And that’s bad.
 
Sunset Shimmer’s case was sort of the other way around:She had more potential,she had background,but in the end she was only reduced to a bully without any actual introspection.
 
I was discussing Equestria Girls with one of my best friends yesterday and her niece (of 15 years) joined and said that she doesn’t understand why most people hate him,that if anything,she sees him as a “prince” and she would be the happiest person in the world if she meets someone like him.
 
We didn’t know if should have giggled,or to shake our heads in disbelief,but thinking about it,that must be what the movie wanted to show to young girls.It was working…and it got us a little bit concerned.Not the fact that she wants a nice boyfriend,but using “prince” as away to refer it to him,like alluding to perfection.
 
Once again it makes me think that the staff didn’t put a lot of heart while making this movie.Sure,we are not saying that Flash should have being an asshole,but getting him our from the “Charming Prince” zone.
 
If you want to blame someone for reinforcing stereotypes,then don’t blame the fandom only,the staff and Hasbro are also responsible.
 
In any case,I’m glad he won’t appear in S4.Heck,I just don’t want any shipping at all (except if it’s from minor characters only) for any of the characters.
 
Shipping should stay in the fandom,imo.

There are three very good reasons for assuming Shining Armor would disapprove of Flash Sentry dating Twilight Sparkle:
 
First, we assume that Shining would be jealously overprotective because Twilight is (see A Canterlot Wedding), and siblings tend to take after one another.
 
Second, even if Shining didn’t take after Twilight, it’s a comic tradition that older brothers are overprotective of their younger sisters, so Shining would have reason to dislike Flash anyway.
 
Third, it’s damn funny, especially to those who don’t care for the Flash x Twilight shipping and would be amused to see it get some smackdown.

OK, change “Dreamy Cutebottom” in my comment to “Freaking Flash Sentry”. Doesn’t change the fact that “Dreamy Cutebottom” is a better descriptor of what he is.

I don’t care for Dreamy Cutebottom either (he’s too inoffensive for me to hate, but he’s darn near my least favorite character), but it’s not true that the only reason anyone would like him is that they imagine themselves as him. Some of his fans, I suspect, just want to see canon romance for any of the main characters; some are just happy for another positive male character; some might be reminded of a RL friend; and some automatically filled in the blanks of his characterization, much as the fandom did with Luna until “Luna Eclipsed”.
 
Besides, insulting the other side just makes you look insecure about your opinion.

Anyway, even the devs themselves saw how much of a fuckup Dreamy’s existence was: while Equestria Girls is (very very sadly) canon, he’s not gonna appear in Season 4. That should say something about the issue.

Get your facts straight: the other 100% of the background characters don’t have being the satellite love interest of a much more well-liked character than him as their main defining trait. Being decent just makes the lil’ bugger even more generic.
 
Face it: the only people who could ever like Sentry are those who simply imagine themselves within his skin to be with their purple waifu. There’s no other conveivable reason to appreciate Cutebottom’s very existence.

I just have to wonder why everyone assume Shining will despise Flash for showing interest in his sister. Since Flash is a royal guard who had to have gone through Shining to get a position, Shining would probably accept a dutiful fellow royal guard than a random dude of the street.
 
But no, stereotypes must endure!
