Personality:
Carmel Bell was the first little foal that Pinkie had, and for one, blissful year was the sole recipient of her parent’s attention and affection. That is, until her younger siblings came along and spoiled the party. Being the oldest of the crew came with responsibility ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶s̶p̶o̶n̶s̶i̶b̶i̶l̶i̶t̶y̶ ̶c̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶o̶w̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶o̶s̶s̶ ̶them ̶a̶r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ which meant Carmel was often called on to help take care of her three siblings and keep them in line when Pinkie needed the extra hoof ( which turned out to be quite often). As a result, all the skills she picked up as second in command carried through into her adult years and helped shape her into the reliable, competent pony she is today. However; even though ponies are impressed at her ability to organize and effectively carry out anything she puts her mind to, her tendency to be overly ambitious and become insensitive to others in the process tend to mar her better traits, making her come off as intimidating. However, she’s more bark than bite, and when she’s not ordering you around or lecturing you about your life choices, she can be one of the friendliest, down-to-earth ponies you’ll ever meet. Deep down Carmel does care, but likes to show it in a tough love, not-putting-up-with-none-of-this-nonsense kinda way.
Unlike her parents, Carmel is a realist to her core, and whether the situation is good or bad, you can count on her doing everything in her power to change it in her favor. When things are out of Carmel’s control, or at the very least feel that way, she goes haywire and becomes almost psychopathically stressed out (depending on the situation). And although she is by far the most mature of the Pinkie pie family, she’s pretty bad at hiding her feelings and is even prone to emotional outburst if she feels overwhelmed. When it comes to conflict, Carmel isn’t one to back down from a fight and often stands up for those she sees being stomped all over. At the end of the day, it all boils down to this; to others, Carmel Bell is a strict, straightforward bossy mare who won’t take no for an answer, but when she’s with her family and friends, they see her as more of a ‘Mother Hen’ type. In that, she’s the kind of pony who will try to fix your life while simultaneously sheltering you under her metaphorical wing as you spill your heart out to her, and give you sweets and kiss your boo-boos while telling you to pull your act together already.
When it comes to unwinding and relaxing, Carmel finds it a bit difficult to manage, since she feels most comfortable when she’s at work planning some new event or organizing her 25 different filing cabinets. But every so often, she does enjoy going out with friends (being the social butterfly that she is) to shops where there’s the newest bargain on pens or to the local cafe to discuss the latest gossip. One particular hobby of hers that most ponies don’t know about, is her love and talent for making paper origami. She even won ‘Most Creative Origami Piece’ in a contest one year. Aside from a few other side hobbies like reading magazines or watching old movies, Carmel’s one and only passion is her job; being a professional Event Planner for hire. There’s just something about starting a well-planned project and putting for her entire soul into her work, to then see it become a reality, that gives her a deep and fulfilling satisfaction.
Relationships:
Pinkie pie-
Even though she is much more mature and logical than her mother, the two are more alike than even Carmel realizes. For one, she seemed to have inherited her mother’s amazing memory skills and can precisely tell you the price of pretty much everything in the market down to the last cent. You’d think because of that, along with Carmel’s ability to bring together any event, that she and Pinkie and would make a great team- and they would….if Carmel wasn’t so against the idea. Growing up, Carmelwanted to follow in her Pinkie’s hoofsteps and become a party planner, and so became a sort of apprentice to her mom. But when she figured out that her way of throwing a party was so very different from the way her Mom threw parties, she sorta broke away from her mom and vowed to forever work independently. But even for this sore spot in their relationship, she still cares for her mom and does enjoy shopping for supplies and baking together.
Cheese Sandwhich-
As much as Carmel is easily annoyed at her Dad’s goofiness or tendency to make everything a joke, it’s really only ticks her off when it’s a serious matter that her dad refuses to take seriously. Otherwise, Carmel just snickers at the lame puns and brushes it off as her Dad just being silly ole Dad. As a kid, all the ballon animals, wacky costumes, and little prank wars were all good and fun, until her Dad started showing up at her school only to embarrass her in his chicken costume and calling her “ Tooty Snoty Sweetum dum dum”. Cheese learned the hard way to not embarrass her daughter in public. Underneath all the cringy references and outdated jokes, Cheese is actually pretty close to Carmel. He’s always been so supportive of her in whatever she does and is great at getting her to relax and have a little fun. Carmel may think her Dad is pretty extreme at times, but she knows there’s no one who better cares for her wellbeing and happiness in all of Equestria.
