They don’t need to justify not liking the design/colors of a character by pulling out color theory, if they don’t like the way it looks, they don’t like the way it looks. Opinions be opinions.
Just stating what the colors are does not justify any opinion on them, positive or negative. Don’t ignore saturation and brightness, and please use a color wheel.

A dark purple back shell with a reddish-purplish rim and a swampy green underbelly. A sickly yellow-green for his head and legs, that fades to orange around the neck for no apparent reason. Two great big orange antler/pincer things on his head (in addition to his normal, unicorn-like horn). Purple eyes and transparent, purplish-indigo wings (both of which I do admittedly like, just not on Thorax). And what even are those three bluish-whitish things protruding from his neck!?
In short: I do like the colours used, (except the yellowish-green,) I just personally do not think that they work at all well together in the way they were put on him.
If you disagree, that’s fine. You’re entitled to your opinion, and I’m entitled to mine.
Oh sure, when the ponies have bright, vibrant colors, it’s fine. But the moment Changelings do the same, it’s a problem.
The colors don’t clash on the individual Changelings, so that’s not the issue. The colors aren’t quite as bright and vibrant as that of the ponies. I really don’t see the problem with the design.
The only thing I can think of is that, for some reason, you don’t like ANY of their colors, which makes me wonder why you’d watch a cartoon full of brightly colored cartoon horses anyway.
I wouldn’t mind if they got various colours/colour palettes to show that they’ve become individuals, if only the colours they got looked good. But no, they don’t (not to me anyway). I’ve seen shitty, angsty, red and black, edgelord OCs that were less of eyesores than most of the Changedlings.
I’m fine with the Changedlings having various colors, as it shows that they have become individuals, and not just various interchangable and expendable drones. Having them keep a single color scheme for the entire race breaks the whole feeling of them breaking free from tyranical rule and becoming a race of individual characters, rather than a species of clones.
To be fair, while I don’t hate the Changedling design, (though I certainly don’t like it either,) I still find the old black/dark grey design to be indefinitely more visually appealing (‘cause that design isn’t a clutserfuck of obnoxiously vivid colours).
In short: I wouldn’t want a Changedling either.
