I know what you mean, but I don’t feel that it’s right anymore. Twilight should give up her Element as Celestia did before her. We could start a little discussion if the tree of harmony is sentient or not and how exatcly the elements are bound to it. In my headcanon there must be a way to unchain an element from one pony to another (mainly because most ponies won’t life forever and they aren’t all natural alicorns). Twilight could concentrate herself on her royal duties as princess of friendship (and now headmare of the School of Friendship). Starlight would be a wonderful Element of Magic, cause she actually shows more potential als Twilight ever did. Just my opinion.

Which is exactly why Twilight is the Element of Magic, but the Princess of Friendship. They’re essentially the same.

Apparently it is, but that would just make both Friendship and Magic one and the same.

Twilight is the Element of Magic. There is no Element of Friendship, and even if there were Twilight not be able to represent it in the slightest.

Yeah, but still I think about Sunset as the Element of Empathy. Starlight always show ambitions to be the true Element of Magic. And I don’t have the issue about Twilight, because she IS the Element of Friendship. So, in my (headcanon) world everything is fine in the balance about Friendship, Magic and Empathy.

And again there is the evidence that Starlight doesn’t go to the books when it comes to magic. ;-D
