Ray10k is actually pretty close. It’s an episode in a small ‘set’ area, like a single or only a few rooms, with only a fraction of the full cast. This saves on things like voice-actors and background artists, allowing a lower-budget episode. This is usually done so they have more of the budget left over for the finale.

a bottle episode is the kind of mid-season episode, when most of the budget is already spent on the grand opening/big finale, and the creative team has to work on a budget gotten through returns on empty bottles.
