Just because it’s a cartoon doesn’t mean we can’t hold it to SOME kind of logical standard.
I don’t think it’s so much logic bound as there’s always a pattern to a pony’s design based on their name and origin that has to work aesthetically. Random colours and names based on singular features like this often don’t tend to make sense from a creative point of view as they’re visually unappealing and feel somewhat forced as a design choice.
