Take it to a mod, or to the “Tag Implications” sticky thread in the Site and Policy subforum.  
I can tell you now it’s definitely not needed, and would make searching for either changeling drones or Chrysalis alone very annoying.

Sounds like bullshit to me. Chrysalis IS a changeling and should be tagged as such.

I can tell you because I did it. Most every other solo Chrysalis image doesn’t have that tag. Yes, Chrysalis is a changeling. She’s a changeling in the same way Pinkie Pie is an earth pony. We don’t need all Pinkie images tagged ‘earth pony’.  
There are certain tags that are implied by another; that is, when one is applied, Derpibooru automatically adds the other. ‘Queen Chrysalis’ and ‘changeling’ are not one of them, neither is ‘changeling queen’ which is used for queen OCs.  
If you really want to search for changeling including Chrysalis, you can just type ‘queen chrysalis OR changeling’.

I can answer the why. Yes, Chrysalis is a Changeling, but I don’t think she really warrents the tag, which is more so reserved for the background Changelings, Changeling OCs, etc. Having the tag COULD work for her, but seeing as we have over 11000 pics tagged “Queen Chrysalis”, and only over 4000 tagged “Changeling”, there must be a consensus that she doesn’t need the latter.

Alright, who removed the Changeling tag and why? I want an answer that makes sense, please.
