I could go on a rant about how “Castle-Mania” and “Simple Ways” are unjustly maligned by many of their critics, but suffice it to say I think they’re decent story-wise and with enough funny scenes to more than justify their existence. (Plus, Tabitha St. Germain and Ashleigh Ball were absolutely hilarious in the last act of “Simple Ways”, and the animators did an excellent job transferring those performances to the screen.) I’m indifferent to “Leap of Faith” (it strikes me as competent but not really memorable), but think “Bloom and Gloom” is an excellent episode, a deft mix of comedy, suspense, and heartwarming moments.

I don’t think any episode of the series has been weak enough to outright call “bad” yet, but “Trade Ya!” is one of 4 or 5 episodes that come uncomfortably close to that level, IMHO. There were some nice little tweaks to standard cartoon storylines, which I appreciated, but the climax just really struck me as awkward and not terribly believable. (YMMV, of course; I’m sure there are people who consider it one of the best episodes of the series, and that’s fine with me.)

Nah, those were all good episodes. Nothin’ to trip about here.

Well Leap of Faith is just okay, but the rest of those episodes are good (yes even Simple Ways, it’s the weakest Rarity heavy episode but it has some completely hilarious scenes, always felt the backlash against it was mostly butthurt waifufags).

Josh Haber’s episodes haven’t been terrible, just boring IMO. This could go any direction; I just hope he does Sunset’s character justice.

I wasn’t impressed with any of those episodes really. I mean, Castle-Mania probably had the best character moments out of season 4, but the rest of those episodes (especially Simple Ways)… not really that great IMO.

For the record, I liked “Simple Ways” for how funny it was so at least FG will have some good humor.

IMO McCarthy and Haber should write the movie together.

Well I’m a bit worried too. But I’m more worried about how he handles with Sunset’s character in the movie. He’s never written something with her in it. He might F it up somehow and change her back to her EQG1 self. But that would be unlikely.

I agree, but I’m still worried.

Granted, Josh has made some lackluster episodes and Trenderhoof is in this movie; he was in another one of Josh’s episodes, Simple Ways. But just because someone other than Mccarthy wrote an Equestria Girls movie, does not mean we should judge something before it airs. Now let’s all wait for the premiere, and see where Josh goes with this. And hey it may not be that bad.

I’d argue that Trade Ya is the worst. It was bland, unoriginal, and gave me nothing to enjoy. {Not to mention the whole ‘indentured servant’ thing was off putting.}

I actually quite like the other three, so I dunno about the movie. Could be good, could be bad, we’ll see.

I thought Simple Ways was the worst episode of the entire show! Probably because I really liked Flim and Flam, and having them turn from shady entrepreneurs to flat-out conmen didn’t sit well.
 
I enjoyed Simple Ways for Rarity and Applejack’s interactions, not so much the story though. I felt that one was kinda subpar.
