Remember children, when dealing with a deadline, try not to get more extra work that will definitely delay you. Or, alternatively, hope you don’t have to get more work so you can pay the mortgage so the bank doesn’t sneak up behind you and takes away your house leaving you homeless. Needless to say, it’s been a difficult month that of July, perhaps the hardest I’ve had to endure in terms of personal and family drama, and I’ve found myself dealing with a lot of pending work. Add anxiety attacks to that, and you have a combination that would drive anyone insane.
Still, we’re producing two pages this month instead of one! So you guys have that to look forward to. I hope the results make the wait worth it!
Coming up with the designs for the Wendigos was a lot of fun, actually. I did a few doodles of which Rated ended up picking these two, so I mashed them together and that’s what you’re seeing right now. It is less Eldritch abomination and more movie monster-y, but I think that makes it less distracting and doesn’t take the focus away from the real protagonists. After years of drawing just Pansy and Hurricane for this comic, drawing unicorns and earth ponies feels both really jarring and really rewarding at the same time. Panel 2 was my favorite panel to work on. It shows the unlikely alliance that’s formed when the time comes to run away from a freaky ethereal enemy that’s hellbent to kill you.
