Megafans of certain celebrities are always speculating on who they may or may not have a crush on or be involved with. Anyone who knows about Sombra could only know of him through his recent seige of the Crystal Empire (since all history prior was stated to have been lost such that even Twilight knew nothing of the Empire or Sombra), and it would be odd to know of this event without knowing one of the most major players was in said event, especially if it was made such a big deal by both the Crystal Ponies and Celestia. Having that knowledge would not require or even suggest knowing Sombra’s romantic history from millenium ago.

However, Sombra isn’t associated with any part of Equestria OTHER than the Crystal Empire. Mina knowing about him but failing to recognize Spike as the dragon who defeated him (especially after the Crystal Empire ponies made such a big deal about it) is a pretty gaping plot-hole.

If she had a doctorate in Sombrology like you claim, she would already have known that Sombra and Luna never had feelings for each other and would not have asked Spike about it.
 
I will also point out that the words “Crystal”, “Empire”, and “Crystal Empire” each appear exactly zero times in this issue.

That’s a pretty legit question. Why doesn’t she know about him? She knows about Sombra, she knows about what happened at the Crystal Empire yet she doesn’t know about Spike.
