First of all, this is like rewarding a kid who just completed their chores with Brussels sprouts. Secondly, taking away a kid’s Saturday of playing and goofing off and replacing it with forced volunteerism, not even a paid job, at an old folks home, is a good way to make your kids hate the elderly. Feeding them, bathing them, changing them, cleaning up their messes, taking care of the elderly is like taking care of babies. Adult babies with the ability to say the most racist and hurtful things. And when they throw tantrums, they literally throw things. Usually breaking the lamp, phone, plate, television, or whatever and making you clean it up. Then they accuse you of stealing their stuff when it is usually their roommate. Springing that on a kid as a surprise is a crappy thing to do.
 
So true, at least Apple Bloom has some experience with Granny. But now dealing with elderly strangers who at the very least can be cantankerous will be a massive test in patience. I’m sure they’ll be nice to her at first, but it won’t be long before they show how awful they’ll be. We’ll see how the artist/creator will depict the elderly towards Apple Bloom here.
