That shipping is going to be one of the less favorites anyway.
The dark flip side of that is if fans begin to take those representations as fact.
This is something I ran into when the Digimon fandom was in full swing. People got the idea that characters x and y were in love, and couldn’t stand any dissent. The flame wars were a real downer.

It’s better that way. Indeed, I’m beginning to think it’s not a big deal if he doesn’t appears in S4, because that means that the ones that will give him a personality, past, context, and relationship with Twilight will be us, the fans. Fanfiction makes wonders creating really nice backgrounds for side characters (most of the time). We already know some of that, so that’s a plus for now.
I’m not at the point where I can think of these two as star-crossed lovers. As I understand it, their entire relationship throughout the movie is her repeatedly slamming into him.
How Freudian!
But if there’s one thing I know about this fandom, it’s members will flesh out the idea of a relationship far beyond what the script writers presented.
