How do I delete my account?

Report your own account and state, clearly, in the report reason that you’d either like your account to be disabled (retaining the account, but preventing you from logging in), or completely wiped (anonymized).

I’ve been thinking about this topic for a long time actually. If I was to do what you suggested, can you come back with a different account? What about the email address attached to it?

Yes, you can.
 
As for E-Mail, you should be able to re-use it in case you chose to wipe your data. If you chose deactivation, you’ll need to contact an administrator to sort it out.
