Aria: Adagio’s baby is currently dilating at 7 cm. It takes about 9 cm for her to feel the need to start pushing the baby so we have some time before that starts. She’s currently in the transitioning phase which is the most painful–
 
Adagio yelps from the contraction.
 
Aria: …and most frequent amount of contractions. Adagio, are you able to somehow squat during the birth?
 
Adagio: N-no. I need the bed.
 
Aria: Alright, then that means Whats-his-name and I are going to be holding Adagio’s legs apart while Sonata prepares to catch the baby.
 
Sonata: ME?!
 
Aria: FOCUS, SONATA. For every contraction, I’m going to have Adagio push for ten seconds three times. It’s going to be extremely messy, I’m not gonna lie. When you see the head, Sonata, prepare to catch the baby and whatever you do, DON’T PULL. The baby needs to come out naturally AND just as importantly needs to be held by the head and neck when it comes out. Now, when the baby arrives, there’s a slim chance that the baby will be able to breath but if it isn’t, Sonata, you need to angle the baby ‘s mouth downward at a slight angle so it can expel anything in its lungs like leftover amnotic fluid. Once that’s done, Whats-his-name has the part I know you wouldn’t want to do. He needs to cut the umbilical connecting the baby to the mother’s placenta, which is actually also going to be pushed out of her body as well. He needs to check if there’s still a pulse in the cord. If there isn’t, he’s good to go. He’ll need to tie two tight knots three inches apart towards the baby and cut the middle with the medical scissors.
 
Sonata: …is that it?
 
Aria: That’s it. When Adagio feels a need to push, that’s when the baby’s coming. We’ll also need to contact the nearest hospital to pick us up when we’re done so we can get the baby, and my shoulder, treated.

ted: look at the bright side sonata: you get ta find out if the baby’s a boy or a girl.

Adagio: So what now?

ted: i’m guessing wait.

Aria: …there is one thing. Whats-your-name. Go wait downstairs for about ten minutes…we need to talk in private.

ted: umm sure thing.

You get up from your seat and exit the room, closing the door.
