Well, Cutie Marks of ponies is evolving with society. New concepts are emerging constantly.
CMC created new symbol for concept of (helping) finding yourself and your talents, and it’s turned out to be most close to their talents. I wouldn’t be surprised if “Cutie Mark Crusaders” move would be as big as filly scouts in future, with branch houses everywhere.

And thus we find an interesting conundrum: Was the Crusader logo a shield because they subconsciously knew the forms of their cutie marks, or are their cutie marks shields to symbolize the Crusade?
