Fighting what seems to be a giant, Final Fantasy style Sand Worm
Spike was kind of like this in the comics.
“Oh, you know. The usual.”
It’s just something that seems that would happen.
[spike the only competent character]
sounds like it should be a tag.Really? I don’t remember an episode where this happens.
And living in world where manticores and other mythological even more powerfull things live, that not big advantages.
@Itsthinking
Yeah but that won’t probably happend. And like I wrote earlier each writer make him different one make him somewhat reliable, different as comedy relief and clumsy. He is just nice slave :D
Making him hypercompetent seems to work well.
The thing is, he is reliable, just not when he’s on screen, even when it’s the same basic thing. He bunks up taking care of the girls’ pets for a day in ‘Just for Sidekicks’, but he was able to take care of all Fluttershy’s animals while they were away during ‘Dragonshy’. He messes up baking for AJ in ‘Spike at your Service’, but seems to have cooking as a large part of his duties as Twilight’s Assistant, making various baked goods over the course of the show.
Spike’s reliable as all get out, but him doing most of his stuff right just doesn’t make for a good episode in some people’s opinions.
@Swashbucklist
Don’t forget lifting what seems to be several times his own weight on multiple occasions.
Their primary idea was to age him up.
Tough scales, rock-crushing teeth (with which he once menaced some guys in order to escape their prison), and hot-enough fire breath to melt an iron padlock. What can the CMC do? Cause childish shenanigans.
You know its hard to make him reliable when he is still a kid, It’s like giving CMC a world saving mission. He is sidekick and he will be till he won’t be made some more mature what I don’t think ever will happens (especially how different he is written by each author)
@Trickquestion
Honestly this is a really cool idea for an episode. Have the Mane Six go off on some adventure and Spike saves Ponyville by himself, turns out that their “adventure” was something totally tedious and not adventurous at all. This pic is so good because it really speaks to his position on the show.
Spike is entirely too useful to waste on friendship problems. He’s like a little R2-D2 with a flamethrower!
And soon we see Junior Agent Scales working with Special Agent Sweetie Drops
