How’s it shota when an artist ages up a character precisely so it doesn’t happen?  
I wonder why some people like to assume that whenever Spike gets shipped is has to be because they like shota? Most of them simply like Spike, and his age is actually more of an obstacle and not the reason why they ship him.

Took me a second to realize that was Spike. These are fine ships imo.

Depending on how you calculate the main six’s age in the show, the age gap between them and Spike would be eight years at its largest, five years at its shortest. So the gap is less then ten years, and that means that the age gap won’t be a huge deal once Spike gets past a certain age.
 
So should Spike be shipped with one of them right now? Probably not. But within five in universe years it will be fine. Add in the screwing the equestria girls does with age gaps and I am pretty sure he’s old enough here.
 
Now that being said I personally like Applespike, because if you look closely at the interactions between him and the main six Applejack treats him much better than the other five.
 
I’m fine with the rest of the ships being shown here, although I’m iffy on Fluttercord for this simple reason: Discord is still figuring out the concept of friendship, so I don’t think he should be venturing into the waters of romance quite yet.
