It’s happened plenty of times before and it’s why companies are careful not to completely take ideas that aren’t their own. A TV series even once almost got canceled because the writer of it listened to fans and borrowed some ideas without permission. Forgot the details, but the show was Babylon 5. Far as cartoons go? There’s plenty of those as well. Copyright laws are a mess, but there lines you shouldn’t cross.
Cause, you know, fans can claim copyrights over material they didn’t make. :v
They didn’t want to copy fanon personalities, so they made them the complete opposite to avoid lawsuits
