Well, like you said it might get revealed now because they’re on the verge of breaking up. I just think Gilda is dating him because he’s the prime jock of the class. Gilda’s always been obsessed with keeping up the appearance she’s ‘cool’ and at the top of the totem pole. Billy is just a way for her to get noticed. That he’s at odd with somepony she actually does care about is something she’s trying to overlook, but by now I think she’ll realize she can’t keep this charade up any longer and she has to choose.

At first I was indifferent to Gilda and Billy being an item. Well it felt wrong, but I was like “Ok, hella arbitrary but whatever.” Now I flat out don’t like it. Not because of the characters per se but because it makes no egging sense.
 
Not enough time was given to make it plausible. But I bet every defense will be “Well they’re stupid teenagers.” But Billy has been Rainbow Dash’s defacto ‘jerk ass without a cause’ antagonist since like…chapter 1. Remember during the dance when Billy was just gabbing about how much he can lift? And Gilda looked like she’d rather get mounted on someone’s wall than listen to another word? There are a number of times where Gilda has to talk to Billy and Hoops like they’re children, holding them back from going full asshole. Great chemistry right?
 
She has 0 excuses for liking this guy. If I’m to believe Gilda and Dash are friends. Either the sex is fantastic…or she is retardedly bad at judging character.
 
If only teenagers weren’t this awful in real life. And it’s…not that Gilda decided to date a jerk that bothers me. It’s the fact that we don’t see it happen. Now that this relationship is about to crash and burn, how did it even begin? That’s what I would like to know.

I’d rather tell people that clichéd line that’s now older than Mac users offering troubleshooting to PC users than put up with the whining of people who stopped reading, yet still come on every comment thread for every page hosted here to complain about how much it sucks now and how they’re totally not reading it anymore which is why you can always find them here in time to air their dirty laundry.
 
If they wanted to have a discussion about whether Rainbow Dash can be gay or how believable it is for horny teenagers to engage in a complex web of relationships which an adult would tell them is going to blow up in their face, I’d welcome that.
 
But no, they’re just giving their monthly complaint before lurking in the shadow waiting for the next page to upload so they can again tell everyone how much they hate this comic.

Really, I stopped reading this a year ago, and I’m not sorry I did. Everything about this comic is just awful. Gilda’s relationship, the drunken prom night pregnancy, the asshole characters, the on-again-off-again friendships, the totally forgettable side stories/characters.
 
But really, the second that Gilda and “Billy” started fucking, I lost all interest.

On the bright side, I will say the sudden art style shift looks very nice.

In b4 “everyone is an evul homophobe”. This is the part where the story goes into lecture mode, right?
 
I’m not surprised that Gilda is doing this though. She probably personally doesn’t approve of Rainbow and Firefly being together but she doesn’t want the bullying to escalate.
 
Speaking of bullying, I’m feeling an incredible amount of dissonance about Gilda bird here. Why did the author think that shipping Gilda and Billy would be a good idea? I’m supposed to believe that Gilda is a good person yet she dates and fucks a guy who outwardly makes fun of one of her best friends. And strives to make said friend’s life miserable at any opportunity.
 
No decent person does this, and it’s not like Gilda shows any kind of dependency towards him. Does she just date him out of pity? It’s such an out of nowhere relationship that makes no sense that it might as well not even be a thing.

I find the whole “lezbodash” to be a rather stupid angle and thought so in the days when MLP was just starting. I mean, “oh, she’s a tomboy and has rainbow hair, SHE MUST BE GAY” was one of the stupidest conclusions I’ve ever seen anyone jump to. To make matters worse, it wasn’t just ONE person who did it.
 
As it stands, I’ve been more interested in how this writer is gonna deal with Gilda since we got an episode about Gilda Backstory exposition. Will they ignore it? Will they integrate it? Will dumbbell get his balls removed?
 
The world may never know.

“100% good” seems a silly standard, one that, e.g., Rainbow Dash and Gilda wouldn’t meet; if you’re looking for unquestionably good male characters, in addition to Brolly there’s the hoofball team coach. I might be able to find one or two others, along with a couple of negative female characters, if I re-read the comic series, but it’s not something I’m concerned enough about.

Maybe the colt who is dating fluttershy in this comic could be counted as the one truly good male character in this series, but i don’t know honestly…
