To be fair, it’s hard to do that when each page takes a month to be produced and they’re posting each one before working on the next one, rather than taking five months to do five pages, then posting a bunch at once.
 
Don’t think of this as an attack on the artist’s work. I love how it looks, but a page can only give so much detail. Once the reader sees it, they will form whatever view they want with regards to the story up until that point. You want them to “wait”, but the longer it takes for them to make a new page, the more their viewpoint will settle in, in the meantime.

There were times when lynching was deemed necessary. Just maybe not in middle-class and suburban neighborhoods. The Movement seemed to put the screws to poorer areas. If that’s wrong though, I won’t deny it. :3

Same way as saying “I don’t see how you can be family with people like that” – some people are just low-grade bigots but don’t really act on it very much or oppress others, just bad mouth them behind their backs and then feel superior. I live in the south and my mother is a dyed-in-the-wool racist but she doesn’t go out of her way to hurt black people or mexicans, she just sneers in private. Ain’t that always the way of things…

Known them for more than 20 years now. Hard to think about terminating a good friendship, even over your principles. Also one of them owns a big-ass house where he does barbecues pretty often. Free grilled meat is a good friendship fuel.

Well yes, it’s an awful, completely ignorant statement, I know. But the fact is that it’s a belief shared by many, many homophobes. So I don’t know if having a gay couple where one partner is decidedly child-like (Applejack takes him for a kid) in a comic about gay acceptance is the most… Reasonable? Indicated? I don’t know, I feel like I’m busting the artist’s balls enough as it is, I’m sure he didn’t want it to be interpreted this way.
 
As for my friends… It’s really hard to change the minds of people that are ingrained in their beliefs (this comic makes a great point about this very thing). But I try. And that’s why we fight about this topic. Maybe I’m an hypocrite by staying friends with bigoted (and racist, unsurprisingly enough) people, but friendship is a strange thing. In the same way that they stay friends with me when I’m pro gay, and not white.

Well personally it’s been five pages I’ve read where my discomfort has gotten deeper and deeper. First the statement “he’s not my dad, he’s my lover” (so Bee definitely looks like a child by Applejack’s standards, and she looks as uncomfortable as I feel), then the vague answer “old enough” (that’s a typical jail bait answer, when a girl/boy you meet in a bar answers that you run for the hills) and the creepy “I wasn’t old enough when we met” and “I waited for you to be”.
 
It’s not like the impression he’s a pedo came from nothing, so it’s hardly unfair to be put off by Root’s character. But I’ll read on, because the art is really nice, and I want to see where the story goes. But don’t blame me if I keep my Chris Hansen picks ready.

I really wish everyone would just wait till the other pages get made instead of throwing accusations that he’s a pedo me and Leon were just talking the other day about how rapists and pedophiles are scum he’s not a pedo and this isn’t encouraging it.
