most people prefer simplicity in understanding relationships and themselves.

Words aren’t rendered meaningless by people who use them for what they mean, they’re rendered meaningless by people who hate what they mean, use them to make strawman arguments look more mockable, and attack anyone who honestly uses them or the concepts they represent.

All this talk of using filters is a joke… I came here from the agender tag wondering if I’d find something nice. I’m agender so, I was curious. And now I am being told to hide that tag so I don’t see things like this?  
This whole thing has left me pretty down. Even if the art is nice.
 
I was in my 20s before I realised I was Asexual and Agender. Even though I knew these words, knew what they meant, I still didn’t think they were an actual option for me. Because of pictures like this. Because they got lumped in with the fake sexualities. Pictures like this actively harm me and others, so I get to complain about it. But I am glad to see some commenters dispelling the beliefs that labels make everything better. Labels are for products, not people. My time spent thinking I was straight and just bad at it was horrible.
 
I can’t wait for this overload of labels to end in all of them being rendered meaningless. It just sucks that the process towards that has to be this crappy. But I guess it’s all fine if I can one day say that my gender is: me.

Honestly, these types are incredibly common. They’re not weird or contradictory. There are many women who have a boyfriend, but will only spend time with other women, and do everything with them but sex. And men do this just as often. Going to the cinema with their “mate” and then getting dinner and having a meaningful conversation that ends in a hug goodbye. Come home to the wife for sex then leave in the morning to see mate.
 
Though such a guy could also be mislabeled misogynistic.

I don’t know. I just don’t think “hilarious” is really the appropriate reaction for something like this, particularly not without an explanation; an out of the ballpark prediction, sure, but too often people are just sat wondering why the tag is there.
