Which I think wasn’t a good choice for Luna. While I do think she’s a good character, given Luna Eclipsed and Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, we know that Luna herself isn’t all a strong character ‘emotionally’ and doesn’t know how to properly connect with others. This was a contributing factor to her decent into madness the first time and why I think having her a ‘wise mentor figure’ was strange to me. Perhaps I would have actually liked the idea if they, along with helping the CMC, showed Luna’s inability to properly give advice or even learn how to talk and deal with others as she goes from CMC to another, showing her growth. Then than could work.
As is, Celestia is more befitting a the role. However, the writers don’t really seem keen on letting her have any large impact in episodes, other than minor roles or cameos.

Other than Twilight, the princesses don’t contribute a whole lot because they’re supporting cast. Although Cadance is usually pretty helpful when she’s around, and Luna seems to have a side job as a child psychiatrist. Maybe Sunbutt’s just dealing with some burnout?
@thps48
And she even mentions that her not doing that does make her look bad or like a jokester (they don’t use “trolling” in the comics, primarily because the internet doesn’t exist in Equestria).

I do recall reading a line from the MLP comics where Celestia’s AWARE that she could’ve easily stopped something, but justified why she didn’t.
And I was trying to make a snappy comeback on how Equestria is not Earth like so many people do when convenient and how that would make things easier for that kind of folk, but my efforts are proving fruitless.

I’d have assumed Cel’s visions only occur if her assistance is necessary. Admittedly, she contributes bugger all in most cases. X3
I’m just saying if Celestia can see the future, why doesn’t she stop Glimmer from getting ahold of the time travel spell?
Yeah, didn’t even appear in the primary timeline. lel
Oh, I appear to have jumped the gun then. I apologize.
I know that more than anyone.

It’s not so easy for some people to make friends.
In order for most of these episodes to work properly, most of the characters must be stupid. X3
Don’t let one broken friendship ruin your life.
It’s all a matter of chance.
