Generally The Manesix, Spike, and CMC, yes. But Big Mac, Discord and some other character also was in limelight.

yeah, but the Manesix and CMC are the main characters of the show. So they should be the only ones in this picture. I mean, that would be like DBZ having the Z fighters along with the other characters in the picture

The reason Snips and Snails are included might be because otherwise besides Spike and Big Mac the town would appear to be mainly girls. That might also be why the Cakes are included - exclude them and it gives the impression that the town, aside from the mayor and Granny Smith, consists of young girls and children only. The point of this group shot is to give a general overview of the town inhabitants, and for that you need all ages and sexes.
 
But this is just my assumption.

I’m sure we will be getting some changes.

I’m still surprised they didn’t do a different intro for the 100th episode with the background mane six.

why are Snips and Snails in the intro group shot? they’re not main characters they’re just 2 dumb background ponies, they should just remove them from the group shot and replace them with Cheerilee and Starlight instead.  
And just for fun, put Trixie and Sunset Shimmer cameo in the train or somewhere else in the intro.

The very final shot of the episode is Starlight with the M7 and Ponyville, along with Twilight herself saying earlier that it would be safer to keep Starlight close as a student then letting her roam free uncertain if she’ll relapse.

Eh, I bet Starlight will show up even rarer than Discord.

The only thing that they absolutely cannot get away with not doing is giving the CMC their cutie marks.

I seriously don’t think Glimmer will be a part of the mane6.  
Her going back to Our Town is much more sensible and it is HEAVILY IMPLIED (if not outright explicitly shown) that she goes back to the village and make amends.  
I mean…Our Town (or Equal Town) still looks horrible even after everypony gets their cutie mark–which means those ponies don’t have initiatives, and needs a leader.  
Starlight Glimmer can be that leader and it’d be interesting to see her struggles to making a great town.

Things they could add / change:  
-Starlight?

-Discord in foreground  
-Replace Snips and Snails for DT and SS  
Yeah just change the entire intro at this point please.

Starlight will probably be about as important as Spike. I say she’ll get maybe three episodes next season (not including the premiere, which I bet she’ll be in), and then appear in other episodes but not be deeply involved in them.

Could be that Starlight will be one of many “students” that Twilight has and that the narrative will alternate focus as episodes demand to compensate for the Mane Six’s near complete stories.

At the very least she needs a few episodes where they tackle her reformation in greater detail, maybe making the last minutes of the finale practically non-cannon. They did that already for the last finale, where Twilight was seen flying around without problem, and the next thing we knew she still had to learn.
 
Then she could be part of the main cast without it feeling forced.

Can they just remove Snips and Snails already? What was the point of putting them in the intro in the first place?
