If it was explained in the beginning at some point that Twilight had created life from nothing at all, than I woupd have had an easier time believing Celestias’ reasoning to make her into an Alicorn.
How about scientists that specialize in his theories, eh? :p
Too many time laws: Terminator, Back to the Future, Time Cop, 12 Monkeys, Sonic G, et cetera. No one but Einstein could give us a more realistic theory on the effects of time travel. :P
Why is this so difficult for people to understand?… Alternate timelines. There. That’s it. Does “alternate” ring a bell?

Well, yeah, that was actually explained by Twilight herself in the damn episode. <_<
The Tree of Harmony and the Map must also have existed “outside of time” like them.
Why did Twilight have wings? If she never became Celestia’s pupil she never would’ve become an alicorn.
My guess was that Twilight and Spike were in a state of “temporal grace” caused by the time-travel spell. Since they were traveling between timelines, they weren’t personally affected by the consequences of them.
Nobody knows quite what the hay Twilight did.
She made it 3 dimensional!
