Super late to this sombra reformation party but i think this series is solid. If they can expand it into a 5 or 6 parter they’d have way more room for backstory and the characters. The reformation feels very rushed and forced, as per usual by mlp standards, but i do like the characters. The only thing i really dislike is how they completely stripped sombra with his umbrum elements. In the end he neither looks or sounds like sombra. Feels super out of place.

Yep – we’d rather he just be as cliche (monologuing, overconfidence, Bond-villain stupidity, cowardice before defeat, etc.) as possible, and little more than a crash-test dummy for the other villains.

I loved this story. The way I got into MLP in the first place was by seeing comic anthologies in my local library. I decided to see what the fuss was all about. Siege of the Crystal Empire was one of the first ones I got, before I even knew what a “Crystal Empire” was! I loved the characters, read more, and never looked back.

As it turns out, because in the idw comic book, I found that its natural painting did not appear the darkest crystal, and then there were arctic wastes an unexpected red crystal that made his sombra hurt in the umbrum! That is a secret comic book.
